Flying across Strait of Gibralta, this is southern Spain
Morocco - The ice-capped mountain was seen since entering Morocco after Gibraltar. The mountains were so high that drying the lowland, forming this amazing ice + dessert landscape.
Marrakesh on the sky, this is the second big city in Morocco, and also the old capital.
When I was preparing for the trip, reading material, I know that Morocco has a very amazing landscape - ice-capped mountain and dessert. But I can never imagine that it is so easy to see ice-capped mountain for African countries. People who are not very interested with geography nor travelling, even argued with me that there's no winter and no snow in the very-hot Africa.
Yeah my first few footprint in Africa and also the completion of 7 continents!
Marrakesh - The old town.
The night market is the main attraction to me. It's the world's largest night market. Felt the smelly of food, people dressed traditionally like a custom, also the drum from the performers.
I dont like eating lamp, Marrakesh is exceptional. The taste is not as strong as in other places.
This is the famous Berber dish. Berber is one of the most earlist people settling in Morocco. The dish is named Tagine, and it's the Berber traditional dish. Tagine is also the name of this clay pot. I like it a lot, not only because it looks exotic, but also it is smart to make the pot at a pyramid shape so as to increase circulation for steaming food.
This is the Moroccan escargots. According to wiki, in pre-historic time, escargots is already an eating habbit. During Roman time, escargots was treated as delux food for nobles. The Morroccan escargots is not heavily seasoned, so you can really taste escargots in it's real taste!
The Moroccan coffee is really tasty...
In northern African countries, especially in Morocco and Tunisia, Hammam is very traditional and popular. One of the reasons is, in the old days not every family can afford a private bathroom so people goes to public bathroom and remains as a traditon. The Moroccan shower originated from Turkey, and could be found near mosque because muslims used to clean the body before going for worship. In Marrakesh, Hamman is sold as "Moroccan sauna". The Hamman lady firstly would wash my hair then washed my body with dark soap, and then scrub.
